Welcome to 3rd-Reich.com

This site is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time, ever since I shut down "NSDAPMuseum.com" due to lack of time. That site was one of the first to deal with the Social-history of Nazi Germany. Rather than focus on World War II, that site (and this as well), deals with the organizations that operated within the 3rd Reich and how propaganda impacted those under the Nazi rule. This site will try to stay neutral and deal only with facts behind this time in history; but since the site is designed to allow everyone to contribute, I will start right off and say this with regards to ALL articles found on this site:

The neutrality of all articles on this site are disputed.
Please see the discussion on the related talk page.

Now, those of you familiar with Wikipedia will notice a lot of similarities between this site and that. There is a reason...

The open-source software behind this site is MediaWiki, which is used by Wikipedia. In addition, I have grabbed pages from Wikipedia to begin filling in the main categories on this site. But, again for those familiar with Wikipedia, you know that the pages are incomplete and not as detailed as one would hope. That's where this site (and you) come in...

I need your help to flush this site out with as much detail as possible. I have created templates for the major organizations, but the rest is open for you to direct. There is a lot I know about, but I'm not an expert in everything... nor do I have unlimited time to populate this site. I'm here to do as much as I can, but for those of you willing to share your knowledge, create an account and add some content... the success of this site will depend largely on you, the knowledgeable visitor.

Is this a copy of Wikipedia?!

No - there are some articles from Wikipedia used here to get the site launched (which are being cleaned up due to bias and inaccuracies), but there is a lot more detail here than on Wikipedia... for a good example, check out some of the images under the various topics and you'll see the difference pretty quickly.

Why not just use Wikipedia instead of create a new site?!

The moderators at Wikipedia just cannot know as much about the topic as you and I - we've studied this topic for years and in some cases, decades. We (as a community) will be better able to spot misinformation than them. Plus, we have many more resources at our disposal to verify facts and references for accuracy. The people at Wikipedia know that, and have offered their software up for use for sites just like this.

Another reason why I decided to create a new site was the amount on unrelated information on the linked articles on the Nazi-related topics. I really got tired of sifting through pages of information when all I wanted was a paragraph or two of relevant information.
